Saw this technique in photos on both Facebook & in Pottery Making Illustrated! In the intro I thought I would finish two cups and use white stoneware….my plans changed!!! I found another “secret stash” of brown earthenware clay while cleaning and decided to try this puffy clay technique and had to make it into 1 clip. Ooooo this was a fun one!!Hope you enjoy! ~ Tammy Jo ******* – “Cups to Date” Photo Gallery www.hobbypotter.com -Website: www.hobbypotter.com – Blog www.hobbypotter.blogspot.com – Twitter: twitter.com – Facebook: www.facebook.com (be sure to friend me…the Community page is not updated as frequently) ***I’m a novice potter who ventured out on January 1, 2011 to throw a cup for 365 Days (or 365 Cups), to improve and grow as a potter. Cute cup, nice technique! Hey I don’t know if you did or didn’t, but if you’re not used to the grog, you might want to be sure and burnish where you’ve trimmed, to get the grit to sit back down. Just a finger on a spinning pot can do it, or your smooth object of choice. “Cleaning up” later can bring up the grog too, if you mean using a damp sponge, etc.
@SavannahsCeramics Thanks Savannah!
@DirtKickerStudio Thank you Cindy!!!
@credenza1 Thank you! This clay had a little more grog and possibly I took my time more with the throw because it was new clay. HEY! That’s the key…take my time instead of rushing for the fast throw
I agree with credenza, that was some of your best throwing!
Cute cup. Nice job Tammy!

That was some of your best throwing yet, even without the puffing effect.
